Lifting Voice in Dzikr

By hotarticle | July 8, 2008

Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and reject not Faith. [QS. Al-Baqoroh: 152]

Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. [QS. Ar-Ra’d: 28]

And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; nor obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. [QS. Al-Kahfi: 28]

Suggested to people who have founded sholatul jama’ah to lift their voice in dzikr together. It was mentioned on hadits Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas ra, he said, “In fact, lift the voice in dzikir when people have done from shalatul fardhu was happened at period of Rasulullah SAW.” [Imam Al-Bukhori and Imam Moslem]

Al-Hafizh Ibnu Hajar tell in Fat-hul Bari, “In the hadits, there is a meaning that we may harden the dzikr after founding sholah.”

And hadits “Irba’uu ‘ alaa anfusikum fa innakum laa tad’uuna ashomma wa laa ghoo-iba” explaining the prohibition order lifting voice when do the dzikr while walking and non when do the dzikr in jama’ah. If lift the voice in dzikr is prohibited, then how about takbir on ‘ Ied?

Syaddad bin Aus also tell a hadith, and agreed by Ubadah bin Ash-Shomit, he said: We are beside of Rasulullah SAW (shollallohu ‘alayhi wa sallam) when utter, “Is there any foreign among all of you?” We answer him, “No, yaa Rosululloh.” Then he command us to lock the door, then utter, “Lift your hands, then say LAA ILAAHA ILLALLOOH.” We also lift our hands then said it.
Then Rasulullah SAW put down his arms and utter, “Alhamdulillah, O Allah, Thou had sent me with this Tauhid word. Thou command me to practice it, and Thou promise the heaven for me. In fact Thou do not break a promise.” Then Rasulullah SAW utter, “Brighten up, because Allah have forgiven all of your sin.” [Imam Ahmad, Imam Thabrani, Al-Bazzar, Imam Al-Hakim]

Many other hadith talk about lift the voice when dzikr in jama’ah. There are no reason to say that lift the voice when dzikr in jama’ah is heresy. Only people who immature in thought and less comprehending of syari’ah who assuming this matter as heresy. Wallohu a’lam.
